Talk to Vale Chapter of Installed Principals No. 5256
Vale Chapter No. 5256 meets only twice a year in differing locations in the West Lancashire Province, sometimes in Carnforth, sometimes in Barrow-in-Furness, and I was honoured to have given a talk on their May meeting again, this time in Barrow-in-Furness, on the Liverpool Masonic Rebellion and the Wigan Grand Lodge (last years talk at the Carnforth meeting was on the York Grand Lodge). Barrow is a historic town in the south west corner of the Lake District, the old county of Westmorland. The Masonic Hall, though it was purchased in the early 1960s, still has some older features that were moved from the older hall such as the stained glass windows and furniture. North from the Lake District, the next stop is Scotland, and it was interesting to see that a Chapter that meets in Barrow was originally Warranted by the Scottish Grand Lodge in the nineteenth century. I was given a warm welcome and hope to back there next year.
